Hi, everybody. Happy New Year! In order to improve the memory utilization of my AT compatible, I have just downloaded the LastByte116 from wuarchive.wustl.edu and I need some help. Hardware: CPU: 16 MHz 80286 Memory: 2 MB DRAM (The memory above 1024 are configured as extended) Video: Paradise 16 bit card (512 K) Main Shadow: 64K BIOS at F0000 Video Shadow: 16K at C0000 and 16K at C8000 20 Mega hard disk (MFM, old ST 225) Drive A: 5 inch 1.2 MB. Drive B: 3 inch 1.44 MB. BIOS Date: AMI BIOS 03/30/89 OS: MS-DOS 4.01. I followed the instruction in LASTBYTE.DOC. First use the CHIPSET.EXE to test my system. Because I have 82c212 on the my motherboard, it passed the test. And then I formatted a floppy disk in drive A (bootable) and copy every file onto the floppy disk, copied ansi.sys to the disk. (Also I executed the LICENSE.EXE). And I created the following autoexec.bat and config.sys: A:AUTOEXEC.BAT: @ECHO OFF SET COMSPEC=A:\COMMAND.COM VERIFY OFF VER highmark hightsr clock A:CONFIG.SYS: BREAK=ON BUFFERS=25,8 FCBS=20,8 FILES=20 LASTDRIVE=E SHELL=A:\COMMAND.COM /MSG /P /E:256 device = lastbyte.sys ? device = highdrvr.sys ansi.sys Boot the system using the floppy disk I created, the machine died after it showed the hardware information. It would not show the memory map, which should be seen according to the LASTBYTE.DOC. Has anybody around here tried LastByte v116 yet? Did anybody have the same experience? I would appreciate if anybody can help me to find out the reason why my machine hanged up. Thank you very much for your time. ***************************************************************************** * Ho capito, signor,si!........ * * * *Cheng Yang Home Address: * *Department of Computer Science 808 East, 300 South, #3 * *University of Utah Salt Lake City, UT 84102 * *E-Mail Address:cyang@peruvian.utah.edu Tel: 801-322-1918 * *****************************************************************************
