[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Captain Comic - Hint wanted

zen@phoenix.pub.uu.oz.au (Zen) (12/29/90)

Captain Comic is a great shareware game, better than most in the
commercial area. Indeed, it will be QEdit and Captain Comic that I will
register first as soon as I have an income.

However, I have become stuck. Where can i find the teleportation
wand? I seem to have reached every area possible without it, and am
left with the atom room (I can't jump to get the lantern, even with the
boots) and the room with the large window looking out onto the lake where
there is a solid wall between me and the next room.

I think that the wand is in the "cave" area.

You should add 4Dos to your list of incredible Shareware software. I love
Qedit as well. I have played C.C., but I am not much of a game fan. UUPC
is getting rather good now as well, and the all-time best Hard Drive menu
program, HDM.

The Magic Wand is at the far left in the game, continue left after you get the boots and got back to tamid. Down in the cave is Magic Wand and Gold.

When you first get to the cave go right. After fighting your way a ways
there will be hanging 'sections' with a walkway underneath. You have to
jump up on the sections go right up top till you hit a door - go through
the door - You come out in a pit - go left. As soon as you get over the
pit 2 termites and 2 frogs will be at you. Continue left through the
3 'holes in the wall' - Jump high and ease off as you come down - you'll
land on the rim of the hole. Keep going left - the wand is at the top of
a little rise. Go left after you get the wand to a door. Now go get the
gold.

My best score so far is 1,231,000 What is the best score so far. I've
heard of 1,300,000+

Probably you didn't see the door; it almost looks like just more wall. You
have to take the upper track through the cave.

Speaking of Captain Comic:

  - Has anyone else noticed this "feature": When you die, keep the spacebar
down. When you get a new life, the captain will fly for a short while
at the top of the screen. You can use this to get the teleport wand.

  - Someone asked about maximum scores in Captain Comic. I can't remember
what our maximum score is (I think it is about 1.800.000), but it merely
reflects our patience. There are a few places where you can stay safe
and sound and shoot all the nasty creatures - we've used that to get
many new lives during the game. It makes a good, loooooong game.

Perhaps there are some readers who haven't been through the cave!
Shouldn't postings revealing game solutions contain a spoiler alert
to warn off those still enjoying the adventure?
