I've just installed a new disc which is a MicroScience 1090. Now Spinrite II doesn't seem to like it. All I get is an incompatible equipment message. Spinrite worked great with my Seagate 40Mb (ST251-1) drive using the same controller, etc. The configuration of the 1090 is: heads : 7 sec/trk:17 tracks :1314 I know DOS cannot handle > 1024 tracks without help. Ontrak's DMDRVR allows me to access above the 1024 track limit without problems. But does Spinrite have the same problem or is there a magical incantation that is required to get Spinrite to work. Thanks, Howard Honig howard@hp-pcd.cv.hp.com

Spinrite has a problem with drives formatted with DMDRVR from Ontrack because DMDRVR formats the boot track normally but to handle the larger than 32 MB limit of DOS, it changes the drive table. This will make Spinrite puke when running the low level format. The only way I can see to get around this problem would be to upgrade DOS to 4.01 and use DOS to format your drive larger than 32 MB.
