[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Super VGA - looking for drivers

v105mahs@ubvmsd.cc.buffalo.edu (Peter P Donohue) (01/13/91)

In the beginning of August of last year I purchased from Microlab a
Super VGA 800*600, 16 bit video card (part number VC-GTK-VGA-256) and
8 RAM chips (part number CH-64X4-100) to bring the video memory up to
512k (and 1024*768 resolution). I am using it on a 386 running an
Amazing Technology Super VGA (model number CM-8484E) with 28 mm dot
pitch and up to 1024*768 resolution.
The set up functions well in VGA mode, but I paid extra for the
monitor and card because they are supposed to be able to do better
than just 640*480. The drivers that came with the card are all for
outdated versions of the software that I use.
I am looking for the updated drivers so that I can run Windows 3.0,
Word Perfect 5.1, and Lotus 123 release 3.1 in at least 800*600 mode
(1024*768 is preferable). The one that I need the most is for GEM
Ventura v2.0 (with Professional Extension).
I tried the driver for Ventura 2.0, but the program froze after
asking me what video card I was using. I even tried copying the
driver and editing the batch file, but that didn't work either. There
is a driver included for version 1.1, but it also did not work.
I have sent a letter and fax to both Microlab and the Video Card's
manufacturer, but haven't received any reply.
Anyone have any idea as to what I should do to improve my
situation? For Windows, I have the 7 supplemental driver disks that
Microsoft released. Any idea as to which driver to use?
