[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] hard drive problems

cxw3455@isc.rit.edu (C.X. Woodward ) (01/14/91)

I hope someone can help me. I recently purchased a WD 1006V-SR2 dual
hard drive controller and a Segate 250R drive. I have had no luck
getting the two to work together and am now asking for help. There is
no floppy controller on the WD card. The drive formats fine with WDFMT
from uwasa.fi, fdisk partitions it, and format c: works well also.
The problem occurs when PCtools, or some other large program is being
read from the drive. It gives constant seek errors. If my Turbo is on
(12Mz) Nothing I do helps, but at 8Mz it only takes a few tries to load
the same sector and it work OK. The WD is a 16bit card and both are RLL
as far as I know. format: 667tracks, 4heads, 31tps. (Yes this board
from WD handels 31tps.)
					Any help is appreciated,
						Craig W.
