HP recently introduced a new ink that almost totally eliminates the water solubility problem. From what I understand, it's not totally resistant to water immediately after printing, but dries quickly and has little or no smearing problem. Laser quality output, now has ink that doesn't wash off (that was the original big drawback). I use Quattro Pro 2.0 with it, works BEAUTIFULLY! At three pages per minute in draft mode, it even is an acceptable regular printer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Dale
