I spent a couple of frustrating days trying to get through to TAPR last Monday to place my phone order for a TNC-2. It seems that the phone company found out what was going on and decided to intervene by telling some great proportion of the callers that "All circuits are busy. Please place your call later." A friend of mine figured out how to test this and sure enuf! the circuits were NOT busy. At any rate, after twelve hours of frustration, I gave up. Does anybody know how to get one by mail???? 73 Len KF8J

The circuits most definitely *were* busy--telco didn't step in until the fireworks were already all over. Note that circuit busy conditions can exist at both the originating and terminating ends of the circuits, which seemed to be the case in many instances on TAPR day. About 10K call attempts/hour were being logged to the TAPR number. Note, however, that a couple of hundred people with daemon dialers can easily achieve this call count. --Lauren--
