Hello all, I recently found myself helping an office here with an annoying problem. They run a database system written in FoxBase on a Compaq DeskPro 286. The Compaq is connected to a 5th Generation Logical Connection box through the Compaq serial port that, in turn, is connected to an HP LaserJet IID. The database system is (sort-of)compiled FoxBase, so they use the FoxBase Runtime to run it. The problem is that the database system will not print through the serial port to the Logical Connection. This is driving them nuts. We used the Dos Mode command to redirect printer output from LPT1 to COM1, and I even tried a little TSR I found on WuArchive that does the same thing at a much lower level. No Dice. The printer just says "Processing data", and NEVER PRINTS. I am at a loss--she doesn't have any suspicious TSRs or anything installed. The LaserJet itself is attached through the parallel port on the Log. Conn. Every other piece of software she has has no trouble printing through the serial port. At this point, I am sure it is a bug in the FoxBase runtime. Fox Incorporated has been no help. Has anyone experienced this? If so, do you have a patch or a workaround? Please reply via E-Mail to me, as I don't *even* have the time to read all of comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc--I do read some of it though.
