[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] The little Big Lan

fontana@linc.cis.upenn.edu (Josep M. Fontana) (01/19/91)

I'd like to have some input from the people in the net
about "The Little Big LAN" or other low cost networking alternatives.
We have in our lab 4 XTs (ATTs, and they really suck) a PS/2 and an
Apple LaserWriter, and we would like to take as much juice from them
as possible. Given that our budget is very low, do you have any recommendation?

Looking for the best little lan...

Take a look at LANTASTIC.

Pro: Its really rather neat. Uses very little RAM.
Is quite cheap. It's easy to install and use. It doesn't require a
dedicate server.

Con: Not much in the way of security. Not compatible with Macs.

Cheers
