[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Getting into ATVista VMX memory

moyer@brahms.udel.edu (Eric Moyer) (01/29/91)

Does anyone out there have experience with the ATVista board from
truevision? I'm programming it for high speed animations under the stage
package, and so far have done everything with the bottom 4M of video
memory. We have a VMX board with an additional 6M on board, and I'd like to
be able to copy pictures back and forth from video memory to VMX memory.
As far as I can tell, there are no constructs within the STAGE package
to do this. Backstage has some memory moving utilities, but the prospect
of writing new stage routines seems a little heavy in light of the simplistic
nature of my needs, and the fact that at least _somebody_ out there must
have done it before.
Anyone have any tips, advice, or (oh boy, oh boy) code fragments, that
might help me save some time? Thanx

B.T.W. I work for the U.of Delaware psychology dept. programming a system
for the presentation of visual perception experiments.
We have BackStage, and all the TI graphics chip development software.
(plus the half a millon manuals the go with the TI chip).

Even if you can't help me with this specific problem, I would be very
interested to hear from any other ATVista users on the net! Let me know
what you're using yours for, too.
