[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Sharing Violation???

6500boo@ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu (William Bushing) (02/02/91)

My 33 MHz 386 Gateway running DOS 4.01 had been chugging along
just great until I started using Calera WordScan Plus to do
some OCR work. WordScan itself works great, but I'm having a
few problems with the ASCII files it creates.

These text files are present on my directory, can be copied,
and even accessed by Word Perfect, browse, Laplink, etc. But
if I make a copy on a floppy and try to compare the two, I get
a "Sharing Violation" message and COMP stops. Both files are,
however, readable by all the software I've tested except...

I use an old version of WordStar (3.3) because of its small
size and my familiarity with it since CP/M days. When I try to
call up one of these files in WordStar, it doesn't recognize
the file as existing (even though it is present in the file
list) and it starts a new file with the same name.

I don't HAVE to use WordStar, but I do want to... and I want
to be able to COMP copies of the files I create! Help!?!

Thanks in advance.

Bill
