Does anyone know if PC Tools 6.0 runs with MS-DOS 4.01?
Additionally, does Mace Utilities have a version out that runs with 4.01?
Thanks in advance!!

I am successfully using PC Tools 6.0 and MS-DOS 4.01. I just started using this combination. So far so good. I have used mirror, compress, backup/restore, the shell and a few other features. Neal

I've run into a problem with PC-Tools and DOS 4.01: compress fails on large
partitions. It runs out of some fixed size limit trying to sort the
file/directory names. Centrl Point is aware if the problem, but their
tech support didn't give any estimate for the appearance of a fix.

I had the same problem with my 103mb drive. The problem wasn't with the large partition, but with the fact that I had 8000+ files. It scambled my disk a couple of times and I stopped using it. I'm using Norton's Speed Disk (v 4.5) and have no problems. Douginoz.

Someone here at work said you *must* load SHARE to prevent problems with PC-Tools and DOS 4.01. I've never loaded SHARE (I can tell because it's not in C:\ and I get a warning message when I start my command interpreter) and never had a problem - am I just lucky? - Jim p.s. I don't think I have more than 4000 files on my disk either. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "The opinions expressed here in no way represent the views of Digital Equipment Corporation."
