I have a bizarre problem with DOS 3.20 on an XT-clone. (Yes, I know my DOS is old, but...) In my CONFIG.SYS file, I have the line: SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /E:1024 /P Isn't that supposed to reserve 1K for environment? Anyway, when DOS boots and COMMAND.COM reads my AUTOEXEC.BAT file, I get a couple of "Out of Environment Space" messages and some of my environment variables are not set. If I then type "AUTOEXEC" at the DOS prompt, the file is executed with no error messages, and all of my environment variables are set correctly. Does anyone have any idea what's happening? -- David F. Skoll
