I know someone that has decided to buy a printer, and is looking at HP's inkjet printers. He has a PC compatible. I know that the DeskWriter is supposedly for the Mac only, but it's POSTSCRIPT, right? All we'd need is a serial cable to work with it, right? I thought since he'd be doing a little desktop publishing that a postscript printer might be best for his needs and be the best option for future upgrading. Would we be able to use the Apple Laserwriter (or LW II, etc.) printer drivers with it? So the question is, do we just need a serial cable to get this working? Would he be better off getting the DeskJet 500 (which doesn't have POSTSCRIPT, but I think it has resizable fonts). The DeskWriter is a serial-only printer. Are there any problems with serial as opposed to parallel printers? Thanks in advance for your replies. -- Chris Dailey dailey@(frith.egr|cps).msu.edu __ __ ___ | "A line in the sand." -- The Detroit News __/ \/ \/ __:>- | \__/\__/\__/ | "Allein in der sand." -- me
