[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Multitasking in DOS, LANs

Hi.. I have a project I'm beginning and now must make a networking decission
(which I'm hoping this net will help me make). Here's the scoop:

	Software: I'm planning to write it in Clipper.. someone suggested
		   C with a DBASE library; I'm considering it.

	Hardware: Depends.. the requirements are two users must be able
		   to access the program/database within the same office
		   and one from home via modem. Do I get three IBM's and
		   some networking software/hardware for the two machines
		   in the office and run something like "Carbon Copy"
		   for the dial-in access... or can I get one IBM/386 and
		   a dumb terminal for the office.. and another dumb terminal
		   and modem for the home?

Also, what software is available for DOS that give a multitasking environment;
in this environment, could multiple users/sessions/terminals be set up?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... perhaps would be some
interest to the net too..

Thanks a *million*.. I'll summarize the responses...
