[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] PRINTMASTER Problem SOLVED!!!

shedevil@portia.Stanford.EDU (Annie) (02/18/91)

Thank you all who responded to my problem of my Panasonic KX-P1124 and
Printmaster. What was happening was that when trying to make cards, signs,
etc. with Printmaster, they always printed out longer than the 11 inches
of the paper.

Well, several people told me that this is because of the P1124 being
a 24pin printer <which I knew> and Printmaster assuming a 9pin printer
<which I didn't know>.

I went to the manual for my P1124 <what a concept! :-) >, and came up with
this fix: I put the printer into "compressed mode"..and guess what! It
worked perfectly! The cards and signs are just about the right size, and
do NOT go over the 11 inches!

To do this, I went into Basic, and typed the command:

lprint chr$(15)

Then I typed:

system

which brings you back to the DOS prompt. Then just run Printmaster as
usual.

According to the manual, some types of Basic will want the "print" or "print#"
command, rather then "lprint".

I don't know what the control code is to get it back to normal <uncompressed>
mode, but I just turned my printer off and back on to reset it.

Thanks again, everyone!

Annie
