The FCC has just ruled that local governments can't impose unreasonable restrictions (via their zoning powers) on ham antennas. They said that zoning restrictions would be limited to those that would still "reasonably accomodate amateur communicates and represent the minimum practicable regulation to accomplish the purpose of the local authority". The particular case in point was a rule in Cerritos, Ca., that limited the total number of antennas to three per property and also restricted their type and size. A similar ruling is under consideration for satellite dishes.
