OK, so I have some beautiful .PCX graphic files that I want to use on my 386 system under Windows 3.0 using Paintbrush. Problem is, that while Wordperfect 5.1 and the very good GIF/PCX viewer CSHOW do the right thing, Windows does not appear to support this resolution. Worse, it converts my 256 color images to 16 colors, thus I cannot edit them with the Paintbrush program. I am somewhat amused that Wordperfect 5.1 does a better job of doing simple graphical things right (like scale the image, print and preview the image) than the much touted Windows 3.0. For example, it appears in Paintbrush that the 'scaling factor' depends on the 'printer resolution' for reasons that escape me. Also, Microsoft has to have some of the worst documentation in the history of computer products bar none. There is nothing in two 2" thick manuals addressing these problems. Their user manuals talk down to the audience. Go figure. Can anyone recommend a fix to my problem in paragraph one? Are there better programs available than Paintbrush? Thank you, oh net. -- Robert C. White, Jr. Right lane of .signature closed, merge left The WhiteStar Corporation /\/\ rcw@scicom.alphacdc.com The Owls are not what they seem. / \
