Which of the '386 memory management programs (QEMM, QRAM, 386^MAX, HEADROOM - are there any others I should know about?) is best? My sole criterion for 'best' is that the program can load as many TSRs/Device Drivers/etc. as possible above 640K. How much can I expect to stick up there? I'm working on a Compaq 386 with 2 megs ram and EGA graphics (Video 7 'VEGA' board). (The application software consists of several interacting TSRs designed to interlink some commercial database and graphics programs with some custom programs. These TSRs are currently being 'managed' with PopDrop, but - for technical reasons I won't elaborate on here - the continual swapping in/out of the TSRs is no longer an adequate system.) -- Thanks. I have a 386 system with 8MB of memory and 386max pro. 5.1. I have several TSRs and resident programs which are ALL loaded above 640k, and I have approximately 70k free for additional TSRs above this limit. I end up with 604112 bytes free to DOS which I think is excellent. I can thoroughly recommend 386max. The latest version supports Windows 3 in all modes. It can also be used in place of QEMM with DesqView and works slightly faster than the QEMM version I have been able to try. ======================================================================== Karl Keyte Phone: +(49) 6151 902041 European Space Operations Centre Fax: +(49) 6151 90495 Robert-Bosch Strasse 5, D-6100 Darmstadt, Germany ========================================================================
