Question for any hardware hackers out there. Remember those cute little portable XT's that Laser made (makes?)? One of the surplus outlets, comb or someone, sent me a catalog the other day that had them for $199. Not bad for a dual speed XT, with a single floppy and basically everything else. Except a display. I believe the thing had a cga type display card built in, but I'm not sure. What I'd like to find out is whether there is any way to get hold of the medium resolution LCD displays and hack one onto this thing. Lacking that, something other than a full size monitor. I'd like the combination to be somewhere around a laptop in portability. I have no need for computing while driving, but it would be handy to have one to take on trips to the non-computerized world. OF course, XT style laptops are around $500, so it isn't worth sinking much $$$ to avoid buying one. If anyone has ideas on adding a medium-res display (ega-type) for around $100, it might get real interesting. If anyone has experience with one of these things, email me a note with what you think of it.
