[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] ?Missing? hard drive after low-level,fdisk.

Many thanks to the people who repsonded earlier about my missing command
file- but now I have an even weirder problem.
After giving up on recovering from a hd missing both FAT tables, I commenced
to reformat it. I used debug, re-low-leveled it, fdisk'ed it, and then tried
to format it high level. Nothing. It said something to the effect of "Drive?
What Drive?" This was not a good thing.
Any clues? Thanks in advance.
Quipment specs: Gatway 2000 XT clone, WD RLL controller, ST238R hard drive;
Low-leveled with:
g=c800:5. Specs for drive: 615 4 616 616 11 7.
Fdisk with one partition. Did make it active. All done on low speed.
