My father-in-law bought an Okidata 182 printer recently. Unfortunately, it does not have Epson or IBM compatibility. Programs such as WordPerfect and Lotus 123 and dBase all have an Okidata setting (Microline 92 is compatible) and they work fine. However, public domain software is not as kind and prints mere garbage. Most of these programs output directly to the printer port, LPT1. What I would like to do is trap the printer output and redirect it to a file. I could then write a program to read the Epson-mode file and convert it to something that would print a reasonable approximation on the Okidata. The question -- How do I capture the LPT1 output and redirect it to a file?? Is there a public domain (or cheap $$) program that intercepts the printer port or is there a mere DOS 4.01 command that I have overlooked? Any help would be most appreciated.
