Does anyone know of a Public Domain LaTeX compiler,

i.e a program that will convert LaTeX into dvi.

I've looked in several FTP sites, found dvi viewers but no LaTeX compilers

N.B I'm using a 80386 PC.

thanks in advance.

There is a complete TeX, LaTeX, SliTeX, etc package available via anon ftp
at vax.eedsp.gatech.edua (130.207.226.2) at Georgia Tech. look in /pub/TeX
and you should find a readme file there that gives you all the info. I use
it on my 386 PC. It is based on TeX 3.0 so it is the latest version.
