[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] 4dos and memory

baileyc@tramp.colorado.edu (BAILEY CHRISTOPHER R) (03/20/91)

I just posted about 4dos and using Extended and Expanded memory with
specific questions about XMS. Well, I told my caching program to leave
75K of extended memory for applications. Now, I rebooted, and 4dos
says XMS swapping initialized (I use the /S:B parameter), but then I ran
Telix and jumped to dos. It said 4dos XMS swapping (20K) or something
very similar. anyway, I can change directories and such, but then if I
got to run a small program, such as ls, or my memory mapper, it runs the
program but never returns to the prompt, and the system is locked up, I
have to reboot (via reset button, C-A-D no worky). What is going on here?
Is it because I don't have a real XMS driver (only HIMEM) and 4dos is
getting confused or what?
