This is for a friend. Could someone please send me their autoexec and config to runn QEMM 5.1 with Windows 386 enhanced mode? If this is a FAQ, I apologize. hhg1@gte.com

QEMM (v5.1) is really nice in Windows if you have enough device drivers to limit the amount of conventional memory available for programs. Consider two of my setups here: AST Premium II 386SX/20 4MB RAM 110MB hard drive MS-DOS 4.01 Sony CD-ROM drive, with MapAssist to allow others to access it SMC Arcnet card running over Novell Netware With QEMM, I can map most of the TSRs into High RAM areas and save over 60K of conventional memory (its bad enough that MS-DOS 4.01 takes up a larger portion of memory already). If I decided to run windows on this machine, I would be able to load the EGA.SYS driver up high saving me even more conventional memory for programs. or on an AST Premium 386/25 8MB RAM 315MB SCSI hard drive MS-DOS 4.01 MS-Windows 3.0 HP Scanjet Plus with card SMC Arcnet card running over Novell Netware This is even worse, I have to load a device driver for the SCSI hard to do buffering (instead of running SMARTDRV.SYS), another device driver for the Scanjet, and the novell netware shells. Most of this stuff can be loaded into High RAM and it helps leave more conventional memory for stuff like stat programs (SPSS-PC+) or room for WordPerfect to print to a complex printer like the HP Laserjet IIID. btw, the line I had to add to get Windows to work in 386 Enh mode with QEMM: IgnoreInstalledEMM=yes (or something to that effect, check the help files about parameters in the SYSTEM.INI file) I also needed to increase the NetHeapSize, told it I wasn't using the SMARTDRV. There was also a patch to one of the files to get it to work over novell netware (VPI386 or something like that). Personally, I'd rather be using standard mode than 386 Enh mode.
