Thanks loads to the two respondents to my query re Amstrad 1512
harddisk retrofit issues; summarized:

It is a standard 8-bit IBM bus; all it needs is a controller. In
fact, the drive will fit into the empty drive bay w/o problems!

RE: hard disk in Amstrad 1512

I've added a Western Digital hard card to a 1512. I haven't
experienced any problems.

The machine has an XT bus. One thing to watch out for if you use
a hard card is how it is powered. Some use a cable to get power
from the power supply, since the supply is in the monitor this is
a problem. You need to get one that gets its power from the XT
bus. The Amstrad power supply is fairly small, so you don't want
a power hungry card.

I've been told that Amstrad made their own hard drive for the
machine. I haven't investigated this.
