[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] LEarning DBase III

paixao@ug.cs.dal.ca (Nuno M. Paixao) (03/26/91)

I have to learn Dbase III in the next two/three weeks.

A possible employment opportunity has made me decide to learn DBase,
including programming, but I have to do it in the next couple of weeks?

A couple of question:

1. Is this possible?
2. Can you suggest books/tools that might help me accomplish this?

Any help would be appreciated....

"The Student Edition of dBase IV" comes with a "limited to 120 files"
copy of dBase IV and a manual of about 600 pages. Plenty of self-paced
exercises, with a course material which assumes NOTHING, so you can zip
through until you reach unfamiliar material, then slow down.
The manual is written by James A. Senn of Georgia State University, (James,
if you're reading this, thank you!) and will stay on my book shelf for a LONG
time.
The package cost about $50 locally, and contained SIX 3.5dsdd's.
It's published by Addison-Wesley Publishing Co., and comes in three formats:
  TYPE ISBN

  User's Manual only 0-201-90706-2

  5 1/4" disk format 0-201-50553-3

  3 1/2" disk format 0-201-50700-5

I've been pleased with the "Student Edition of..." series overall, so you
might give them a try.
