[net.ham-radio] RIT for the HW-8

sparks@kvue.UUCP (Ed Sparks) (10/07/85)

I am trying to modify my Heathkit HW-8 for RIT. Can anybody point me
to any articles on this subject? (I remember a few many years ago, but
don't know their source.) Is this project worthwhile!?
Thanks in advance.

	Ade Weiss' address is

			c/o Milliwatt Books
			    833 Duke St., #83
			    Vermillion, SD 57069

His writeup costs $7.00 (proceeds used to support the
Milliwatt Trophy program). He also has a book out,
"The Joy of QRP: Strategy for Success" which costs
	$10.95 pp. I recommend both.

Fred Bonavita writes the QRP column for Worldradio,
and I got his address from the byline on his column.
Unfortunately, his column did not appear this month,
so here is his address from the callbook (hope it
	is current !):

			Box 12072 Capitol Station
			Austin, TX. 78711

His "Hot Water Handbook" costs $5.00, and is well
worth it. I'm at home now, but I think I have an
old copy of Worldradio at work. I'll get back to
you if this address is not correct.

Good luck with your HW-8 ! I certainly enjoy mine,
and also use a (much modified) HW-7 and an Argonaut.

Jeff, N6MNI, speaks the truth.
have been running a Ten-Tec Argonaut here over the past six years. Am
a cliff dweller so use a "Cliff Dweller's Special" hidden end-fed antenna
which runs from the bedroom where the shack is, out to the fire escape, and thenacross the roof. results are absolutely fantastic! Can't tell you how many
really fine CW and SSB QSOs I've had. The most amazing operation, however, is
on AMTOR with a Model 100 lap-portable CMOS machine and a kantronics
8039-based "universal" T.U. So far have had FB error-free ragchews with forty
states and five countries. have DXCC worked with the lil Argo on CW also
(not confirmed, but they're in the logbook). We also work QRP Field Day
every year with N2RI and KQ2G. It's amazing how we do. Of course, for FD
we put up a Bobtail curtain, phased wire arrays on 20, and extended Zepps
on 80 and 40. Ade Weiss' Milliwatt trophy is to be supported!!
