[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] help figuring out what's the problem

epc1@quads.uchicago.edu (en pum cho) (04/11/91)

i'm currently using an IBM PS/2 55SX with a new ZOOM modem with v.42bis
to access a SUN server at school with ProComm 1.1B emulating a VT102
terminal. however, whenever i use something slightly graphical in nature
iget problems. right now i can't use emacs or the talk daemon in
UNIX 4.3 BSD effectively because when i make changes (or sometimes)
just write, the screen on my IBM doesn't get refreshed properly.
so if this message looks strange, it's because i don't get an accurate
portrayal on my screen of what this actually looks like.

I have the same problem: Procomm's VT100 emulation isn't QUITE right. Try
another term program--but I haven't found one that works right yet. They
all do somethings differently.

More recent versions of ProComm Plus fixed the vt100 emulation bugs.
We are also using TERM at work and the emulation is also exact. I don't
have their address or phone at hand. If you are interested, send me email.
