Ack! Time to call on the net.wisdom. I've obtained a Compaq Deskpro /286 without a hard drive, but lacking a hard drive. We've got a Seagate drive, and all the cables, and even a HD controller card, which we managed to configure so the Compaq would let it exist in a slot. But! With the original floppy plugged into the original 1/2 hard controller, and the hard drive plugged into its (full-length) controller, the Compaq will not recognize the existence of the hard disk. We have no docs for the Compaq. So I need to ask two questions of you: 1) Does Compaq have an 800 tech support number? 2) Do you personally know how to get this baby set up? This is the first time I've ever had to post errata for a net.post...hopefully the last! I don't know why I said " without a hard drive, but lacking a hard drive"!! Ignore one of those clauses. Secondly, I meant 1/2 card, not 1/2 hard! Mike
