[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Problem with Desqview 2.32 and RAMDRIVE.SYS

mfontana@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Mark A Fontana) (04/15/91)

    I just installed QEMM-386 5.12 and Desqview 2.32 on my 386 clone,
and I'm having two weird problems:

1) When I run Manifest under Desqview, if I select either of the "Timings"
   functions, the table never comes up, it just keeps timing and timing,
   or else locks the machine up. I found no way to exit this.
   If I run Manifest outside of Desqview, it works fine.

2) I'm using MSDOS 3.30, and my CONFIG.SYS file looks like this:

   files=30
   stacks=0,0
   buffers=1
   device=c:\dos\ramdrive.sys 1000 512 /e
   DEVICE=C:\DV\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS ON NOVIDEOFILL RAM ADAPTERROM=C000-C7FF
   device=c:\dv\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:2 c:\mouse\mouse.sys
   device=c:\dv\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:2 c:\dos\ansi.sys
   device=c:\dv\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:2 e:\windows\smartdrv.sys 512 512

   First of all, are there any obvious problems here?
   I notice that if I include the RAMDRIVE.SYS, then when I run Manifest
   to check memory timings, the PC/XT indexes are all about 0.2.
   But if I don't use RAMDRIVE.SYS, then the PC/XT indexes are around 12.4.
   Nevertheless, Desqview itself seems to run okay either way.

   What is going on here?
