[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] lost system password of a 386 computer

Hi, netters:

A friend of mine has accidently lost his 386 system reboot password when he
was installing softwares several days ago. When the computer is rebooted,
it will ask for the password. After three times failure tries, computer
is "DEAD" completely! No matter how hard to try, he just can't figure out
this 7 characters long password.

He even tried to cut the CMOS battery for ten hours and then did a reboot.
but the computer was still asking for password and all CMOS configuration
parameters were correct including time and date! Can anybody out there
help this poor guy ?

This 386 system has a 25MHZ CTI motherboard and BIOS of Phoenix Techonology Inc.
with 105Mb harddisk and 4Mb RAM. Drive A is 5 1/4 and drive B is 3 1/2
floppy. No reference disk with this machine.

Better to reply email to my account 'cause I don't read news of this group
everyday. Thanks very much!
