[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Really fast terminal program ?

esink@turia.dit.upm.es (04/17/91)

You'll have to forgive my ignorance - I'm not a 'PC person' really.
(As a consequence, I don't normally read this group, so please
email any responses.)

In any case, a PC clone is what I find sitting on my desk right now,
and I am generally using it as a terminal to log into a Sun. It would
appear to be OLD, like an 8086 machine, with a 20 MB hard disk, and
640k ram. The brand name is INVES.

The problem : I'm using Telix right now. The screen updating is
REALLY slow. This is at 9600 baud. I also have ethernet on the
machine, but PCNFS Telnet crashes constantly (this may be a problem
with our network for all I know).

The question : Is there a terminal program, (or even something
equivalent to telnet to run over ethernet) which is optimized
for screen update speed ? I don't care a bit about autodialing,
capture, scrollback, scripts, etc (though I'll admit key definitions
would be nice...). I would just like anything which will scroll
the screen fast.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance...
