[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] DESQview post

ESR@SLACVM.SLAC.STANFORD.EDU (Ed Russell) (04/23/91)

Last week there was a post about some sort of wonderful utility for DESQview
from the /mirrors/msdos/desqview/ directory in wuarchive.wustl.edu archive.
Our ftp program had(has) a bug which caused ftp to barf when I tried to
login there. By the time I got around that I forgot what I was going to
download and the item has been purged from our disks. If anyone remembers
the item and/or has a copy of it, would you please e-mail me.
Thanks. Ed Russell, ESR@SLACVM.SLAC.STANFORD.EDU

The program, to show open files under desqview, is called files004.zip (I think it's .zip).
By the way, though, my dv386 came with the Manifest program, and one of the screens of
Manifest gives the same information.

True, but the advantage of this program is that it dynamically updates, the information you get from Manifest is valid only at the time that you select the appropriate command off the menu. Also, this program goes straight to the information you want instead of making you wade through a couple of levels of menus to get at it. Finally, this files004.zip also gives you the file offset that the program that has it open is currently reading or writing at. And, one MAJOR consideration for some is that this l

ittle goodie is a freebie, and Manifest ain't (but it does give you a lot more information on the state of the system in general too...)
