I'm going to be leaving my present job and transitioning over to a location where news may not be available (yet .. ;^}). I started to write some simple tools for collecting articles & compressing them so that I could Zmodem them home to my PC for unpacking and reading. It works, but it's a fairly ungainly approach (especially in terms of following a threaded discussion). It occurred to me that I was probably reinventing the wheel, and that several other folks may already successfully and happily be doing what I would like to do. That in mind, I beseech you net.pc.wizards: what's available (and where) for home based news reading software? I do have a dedicated phone line for the system at home w/ a 9600 v.32 modem on it, and I have done some mucking with UUCP here in the past. All suggestions greatly appreciated. Try FSUUCP or Waffle. Both are available from the SIMTEL archives.
