[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] PD or shareware C or Pascal compilers?

clark@cs.ubc.ca (Graeme Clark) (05/01/91)

Are there any public domain or shareware C or Pascal compilers that
are usable on a 640k xt? I've heard that there are ports of gnu
C (gcc) - are these too large for such a machine?

Please respond by mail and I'll summarize if there's interest.

Thanks.

I know of two that are quite functional. Pascal compiler is Mystic
Pascal, an apparent clone of Turbo Pascal ver. 3 or less, available on
Simtel20 in the pd1:<msdos.pascal> directory. C compiler is pcc12c.arc,
really a shareware version of the former commercial product DeSmet C,
also available from Simtel as pd1:<msdos.c>pcc12c.arc. Both of these
work well, both have some limitations compared to current full-blown
commercial products.
