I need information on how to read any generic floppy disk and write out an image of the disk to a file elsewhere. Basically, I have a disk formatted under Venix (a SVR2 clone) and would like to read in the entire disk and write it out, preserving the integrity of the Venix file system. As for the genericity of it, I want it to be able to figure out the number of tracks and sectors on the fly given a specified device (A: or B:). In other words, regardless of the physical size of the medium, I want it to be able to perform the above specified action. I'm looking for any information or code to perform this task. Please respond by email. I'll summarize what I find out. Thanks for any help! -Jon --=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-- Jon Wahlmann quintro!jrw@lll-winken.llnl.gov or tiamat!quintro!jrw@uunet Daytime: Glenayre Electronics, Quincy, IL, 62301 (217) 223-3211 x115 Evening: 21 Wilmar Orchard, Quincy, IL, 62301-6801 (217) 224-6918 -- -Jon --=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--
