[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] configuring a western digital HD controller?

lm03_cif@troi.cc.rochester.edu (Larry Moss) (05/14/91)

A few of us have put together an interface to connect an XT type hard
drive and controller to an amiga 500. For you amiga types out there,
this is the Bynery hard drive interface that was posted a while back. In
order to try this out I borrowed a Western Digital 27X controller from a
friend. Unfortunately I don't have any documentation to go with it. I
assume the problems I'm running into are related to the jumper settings.
If anyone can give me any information on the possible configurations I
would greatly appreciate it. If you have built the project, I woud like
to hear what works on your setup.

What I need to do (that I know of):
	Disable BIOS ROM
Enable primary addressing (320 through 323)

I would prefer replies by mail, but I do read comp.sys.amiga.hardware.

Thanks,
Larry

P.S. Is there by chance anyone that's built this interface and using it
with amiga MINIX. I plan on getting MINIX some time this summer and I
know almost nothing about writing hard disk drivers.
