A friend of mine recently became the proud owner of an old IBM AT raffled as "as is old equipment" at his office. Besides the computer, keyboard, monitor and DOS manual, no documentation was available on the system. He asked for my help when he tried to run games and the computer hung. As far as I can tell, the color card that came with the computer has no graphics capability. I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me if they are familiar with this type of configuration and if it is possible through some hardware or software option to use it in graphics mode. If not, what graphics cards would be compatible with this system? What confuses me is that test software I have indicates the card is a CGA card, however, I cannot get anything but color text 80x25. I never knew such a card existed, I guess it's just another marketing tool to sell more hardware (or is the card defective?). The system is an IBM 3270 AT with a 5272 color monitor. It has a 20 Meg HD and a 360k floppy (that surprised me too, I expected to see a 1.2). As far as I can see the video card does not have any switches to set, nor does it have any clear identification markings. The only words I can find on it (if it helps anyone to identify it) are: M 970-8523 PC 21.676 Mhz CTS Singapore MX0 - 55 GA-2C 16.257 Mhz 8416 00 Please mail any responses to ronz@aplcen.apl.jhu.edu Thanks, -- Ron --
