Title: C 6.00 README: SMARTDRV Documentation
Document Number: Q61245 Publ Date: 25-APR-1990
Product Name: Microsoft C Compiler
Product Version: 6.00 | 6.00
Operating System: MS-DOS | OS/2

 Summary:
The following information is taken from the C Version 6.00 README.DOC
 file.
 SMARTDRV DOCUMENTATION
 ----------------------
 Description
 -----------
SMARTDRV.SYS is a disk-caching program for computers that have a hard
disk and extended or expanded memory. For SMARTDRV to operate
correctly, the current version of HIMEM must be installed.
 Usage
 -----
    DEVICE=[d:][path]SMARTDRV.SYS [size][/a]
<size> is the amount of memory you want SMARTDRV to have. The default
is 256K of extended memory or all of expanded memory.
The /a switch is used when you have expanded memory or an expanded
memory emulator. If you omit this switch, SMARTDRV uses extended
 memory.

Title: C 6.00a CD-ROM Setup Does Not Install RAMDRIVE or SMARTDRV
Document Number: Q67847 Publ Date: 31-JAN-1991
Product Name: Microsoft C Compiler
Product Version: 6.00a ] 6.00a
Operating System: MS-DOS ] OS/2

 Summary:
When Setup is run from the CD-ROM version of Microsoft C version
6.00a, the following two files are not found along the specified path:
    \HD525\DISK7\RAMDRIVE.SYS
    \HD525\DISK7\SMARTDRV.SYS
The two files are included in this path:
    \HD525\DISK6\RAMDRIVE.SYS
    \HD525\DISK6\SMARTDRV.SYS
 More Information:
Since the files are not compressed, they can be copied to your hard
 drive.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the C version 6.00a
CD-ROM Setup program. We are researching this problem and will post
new information here as it becomes available.
