But unzip (at least) does exist for Unix courtesy of the Info-ZIP project - I
use it on my machine regularly. Try wuarchive.wustl.edu in mirrors/unix-c or
something like that for the package unzip41.tar-z. From comments in the unzip
package, it looks like there is (or soon will be) a zip program. I have had
zero problems bringing stuff from my 386 at home and unzipping it on the
sun4's we have at work. Because I rarely transport things from work to home,
my present lack of zip is not a big deal (I use tar and compress if I have
to).

If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger sledgehammer.

There is a free working UNZIP for Unix - unzip41, which was recently posted
to comp.sources.misc.

The Info-ZIP group has a working free ZIP program for Unix. It's
still in Beta test. If you would like to help in Beta testing and
porting, send email to Info-ZIP-Request@WSMR-SIMTEL20.ARMY.MIL asking
to be added to the mailing list.

I hope there will be an announcement when it's finished - I for one am
very interested.
