[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Display problem on Zenith Supersport286

gnb@engr.ucf.edu (Glenn Boyer) (06/12/91)

I have a Zenith supersport286. It has a problem with the LCD display.
Nothing comes up. If I switch to external CRT the machine works fine.
The backlight seems to work fine. I have opened it up and can find no
apparant damage. The only thing that comes up on the screen are a set
of 2" horizontal gray bands. No characters are visible. The brightness
control changes the backlight. The contrast control affect the intensity
of the gray bands. The screen seems to have streaks were text should be
at.

I got it used and the screen was messed up when I got it. So, I dont know
how the screen got messed up. I don't have any schematics.
The model number is ZWL-0200-02

Can anyone give me any help with fixing this thing? Has anyone had
any similiar ploblems? Does anyone know how expensive Zenith is for
repair? Any mail would be appreciated.

Thanks
