I'm thinking of getting a two button Logitech mouse. I forget the model
number, but it sells for about $25 at J&R Music World in New York, as
opposed to about $70 for a "standard" Logitech 3-button mouse. Does anyone
have any experience with them -- I've never seen it mentioned in reviews
in PC Magazine, etc. It looks like one of the old "unergonomic" Logitech
mice. Does it have the same driver as the 3-button mice? I only need to
use the mouse occasionally, so this seems like a good way to save some money.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The mouse you are referring to I believe is the "DEXXA" mouse. It is a reasonable mouse, and I prefer it over "no-name" mice in the same price range. The biggest shortcomings of this type of mouse that they are invariably serial mice (a problem if you already have a scanner/modem/digitizer/etc.), have a pretty low resolution (200 dpi vs. 400 dpi) which means more moving around, and they aren't as well made. However, they are backed by Logitech, so as long you have a warranty you shouldn't have any major problems. Having only two buttons won't be a big shortcoming, since most environments barely use the second one (hell, Windows doesn't even use the second one).
