[net.ham-radio] Comments on DX and ARRL.

lare@hlwpb.UUCP (LH Eckenrode) (11/14/85)

Well, I have been sitting here reading the comments on DXing and
the ARRL.
First, on ARRL: The QST mag has not contained as much tech stuff
as in the past. But, it still gets a lot of info out for everybody, from the
begining builder to the contester or DXer. Not to mention the clubs across
the nation. It has a purpose in Washington. You may not agree with their
views all the time (I know I don't), but still they are the only one there
representing us. For that they got my money.

Second, DXing. I have always said that this hobby has something
for everyone, be it building, ragchewing, RTTY, CW, DXing or what. If your interested, you can find your niche.

If some quys want to sit for long periods of time on a list to
work DX, fine, let them sit there. I don't see them posting to the net
complaining about builders not using their equipment.

I have sat on a few list. Because thats the only place some DX
station will operate. So if you want to work them on the list you sit.
Not all DX contacts are of the slam bam varitey. I have had some very
nice QSO's with some rare DX stations at times.

Enough from my soap box. Good whatever to you all be building
or DX or list sitting.
