[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] SIM, software similarity tester now for MSDOS

dick@cs.vu.nl (Dick Grune) (06/19/91)

The software similarity tester SIM is now also available for MSDOS (IBM-PC).
It can be obtained by anonymous ftp from star.cs.vu.nl, from the ditrectory
/pub/dick/similarity_tester. The file SIM21.ARC contains the executables for
the various languages and a 2-page manual; the file README.1st contains some
additional hints.

SIM tests structural similarity in texts in C, Pascal, Modula-2, Lisp and
natural language. It is used
- to detect potentially duplicated code fragments in large software projects,
- to detect plagiarism in software projects, educational and otherwise.

It is available for UNIX (in source code) and MSDOS (executables only).
The same ftp directory also contains the UNIX version.
