I am (timidly) entering the ham satellite area, and would like to begin
by listening to a few. I think I have all the right equipment, at
least according to the various books I've read (e.g. the ARRL Satellite
Experimenter's Handbook). I even have a super-duper tracking program
(in "real" life I'm an aero&astro professor at MIT, so THAT part is knid
of home to me). My problem now is: WHERE CAN I GET FRESH ELEMENTS?
A friend of mine subscribed to the AMSAT magazine that succeeded ORBIT
and tells me no fresh elements can be found there; I tried listening to
a supposed Wednesday 2100EST amateur satellite interest net on 3850MHz
with no luck (perhaps I have the wrong day -- the ARRL Manual says it's
on Tuesdays; unfortunately today is wednesday, so I would have to wait a
week to test that).
Can anybody suggest a source for fresh Keplerian elements for, say,
OSCAR-10 and RS-7?
Thanks, Antonio/KA1LLMCRC.DlosLV@Xerox.ARPA (11/18/85)
Antonio, The nets meet on Tuesday nights. Our local net meets on wed with the information from the previous nights nets. One of the principals of that net on tues publishes a newsletter for Satellite info. Also, the AMSAT org. is a good source of info. There is a document of some sort that comes from NASA I think that publishes all sorts of satellite info. I dont remember what the specifics are but I can ask at the next net nite. 73 Chuck... W5USJ
