[net.ham-radio] Shugart SA-901 documentation

*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE ***
I recently acquired a brand new Shugart Type SA-901 eight-inch disk
drive. My present Xerox 820-based packet radio bulletin board
and message server runs two Shugart SA-800s. According to the SA-800
manual, the SA-901 will also be applicable to expand the PBBS storage cap-
acity. My problem is I have no data providing the cardedge signals for the
SA-901. Does anyone have the required pinout information? I'd be more than
happy to photocopy same and return the material, pay postage, etc. OR, a
simple listing would be sufficient! Am also looking for power supply
requirements (specs). many thanks to whomever can supply this much needed
info. Running out of disk space! Very 73 de Alex, AI2Q, Freeport,

Alex,

The following information may help you out. Cannot verify its content since
I haven't used it.

The SA-900-1 drives need the following options on the control board (On the
side of the drive):

IN: S, T, Y, M, U1, DS, P, L, A, B, K, C, F, G, H, J
OUT: D, E, N, X

The connector on the 900 drive is 22 pins on each side on .156 centers.
Looking at the rear of the drive, with the spindle drive motor at the top,
the J1 connector is numbered L1 at the top left and L22 at the bottom
left. The top right is R1 through R22. The Vector R644 connector fits this
drive very well. The interconnects should be twisted pair wire. The signal
lines all are driven with an associated ground. For example, the R5 line (Index)
should have it's paired wire connected to L5. Do this with all wires.

If you only have -15v in your system, (no -5v) cut the "L" jumper in the
lower left of the disk board. The board contains its own series regulator to
go from -15v to -5v. Connect -15v to L20.

Do not have any power information on the SA-901. Will keep looking.

Good Luck,
