I used to use Fansi Console and really liked the increased type-ahead buffer. Unfortunately, Fansi Console doesn't work on my new 386 box. QUESTIONS: 1. Is there a new version of Fansi Console for 386 machines? (a lot of Fansi's abilities are not needed on 386 machines). 2. How else can one get a larger type-ahead buffer? I've tried a few TSR's which haven't worked. -- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Tom Levin +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ | {ttidca|hacgate|bellcore|hoptoad|csun|harvard|uunet|rdlvax}!psivax!tommie | | INTERNET: tommie@pacesetter.com N6ZIF through ZX-10! | +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

The one I use comes from PC Magazine (via SIMTEL20): Directory PD1:<MSDOS.PCMAG> Filename Type Length Date Description ============================================== VOL9N08.ZIP B 36231 900411 PCMgEDITDEMO,PRINTCAL,SHOWEA,KBBUFFER,TYPEFAST ^^^^^^^^ I've also found that HyperKey included in HyperDisk shareware (HYDK421) works well. I will start using it when my registration comes, KBBUFFER must be loaded into conventional memory, but HYPERKEY can live in UMBs. Another one to check out is VISITYPE, available for anonymous FTP from wuarchive.wustl.edu:/mirrors/msdos/keyboard/visitype.arc. It makes type-ahead work very nicely. ==== Mike O'Connor (mjo@ais.org)
