[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] UNIX cr vs PC was Re: MS-DOS WP 5.1 -> Unix-attached HP LaserJet III w. PostScript

Kermit probably performs some translations when in text mode. A typical
problem is that UNIX Carriage Returns lack a Line Feed, whereas IBM PCs
send a LF and CR for a newline. This will cause the whole file to be on one
line when viewed on the PC, after a binary transfer from UNIX. Some PC
editors don't have a problem with this; many simple ones do--MSDOS does.
I believe that PC Kermit's text mode corrects this problem. In short, if
you want translations to be performed, then you should send in text mode. If
not, then you should send in binary mode. I always use binary mode. If I
have a problem, I just run a program which converts the CRtoCRLF or CRLFtoCR.

I don't know which type of newline postscript needs, though.
