[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Are there still any applications which run on old PC with 256K RAM

smp@cerc.wvu.wvnet.edu (Shailesh M. Potnis) (06/29/91)

I am currently using an old IBM PC running Intel 8086 and with two
360 k floppies as a dumb terminal to remote log in using 1200 baud modem.
This machine does not have a hard disk. The possibly of installing a hard disk
is a bit remote since it has no controller (The floppies plug in directly on
to the motherboard). The people I talked to here told me that it won't be
possible to install a hard disk if the floppies plug in to the motherboard.
The memory cannot be upgraded to 512 -- since the manufacturers have vanished
(for all practical matters other than a message on their answering machine).

Given these facts are their any word processors/spread sheets and other
personal computing packages in public or private domain which can work with
this restricted configuration of 256K two floppies?.

All comments and suggestions are sincerely appreciated.

	Thanks in advance

	Shailesh
